36 Hours in Michigan

I highly doubt anyone from Michigan reads my blog but if you do, what does this mean? On every street corner there is some sort of "K(C)oney Island" restaurant. We saw the Opa Opa Coney Island, the Hassaic Coney Island and dozens of others I can't even remember.

Lance threatened to go there to eat but I kept putting the kibosh on it. And this one place in particular boggles my mind. Banquet room? At the Koney Island? Someone please explain.

Speaking of Lance, this is he. Hiding behind the trees we were hauling around in our minivan. He was doing a tree care segment on television the next morning and needed props.

So for the major part of our trip we had a forest stuck between us. If I had to talk to him, I had to lean forward. Everytime I got out of the car I had leaves all over me. And worse, Lance kept threatening to pull the branches back so they could smack me in the face. He would then blame it on a freak hiking accident.

This is Birmingham, Michigan where we had a dinner on Saturday night. It's a lovely little town and spring is just getting into bloom up there. All the trees were flowering, the grass looked like carpet and tulips were everywhere.

Also, I did not see her, but Lance saw Cloris Leachman in a restaurant there the night before. Evidently she's shooting a movie in the town. And the curse of no celebrity sightings persists.

The restaurant we ate at was called 220 and was awesome. They were having a Kentucky Derby party so it was a bit loud but the food was excellent. I do eat well on these trips.

This is Lance. As the sign says, he is preferred. By little old ladies over 70 with rose gardens that is.
