Dating in the 21st Century

I have a secret. I tried eHarmony. Yeah I did. Honestly society is changing and the way you meet other people is changing. So I tried it. I'm not ashamed of it. It just wasn't anybody else's business. And now that I'm not doing it anymore, none of you get to ask how it's going.

And by my current state of singleness you can tell, it didn't work. Which is fine. My hopes weren't very high about it and I did learn a lot about myself in the process. Mostly, the things that are "dealbreakers" vs. "compromise-makers."

But throughout, I did put a list together of the Top Ten Things You Should Never Do on eHarmony. And yes, these are all true.

  1. Spell "blessed" as "plessed" if you are a doctorate student.
  2. List one of your interests as "Sexy Ladies."
  3. Compare yourself to the title character in "The 40-Year Old Virgin." TMI.
  4. List one of your favorite books as the Karma Sutra.
  5. Put any picture older than six years as your profile picture.
  6. Name a person from one of the Star Trek movies as the most influential person in your life.
  7. Take a picture of yourself standing at the altar, waiting and post with the caption, "Am I waiting on you?" Mmm, probably not.
  8. Admit that you still live with your mother.
  9. List your profession as a "Welfare Recipient."
  10. Post any picture that tries to make you look sexy. Because if you're trying, it's not working.
