In my other life

After watching the Tony Awards tonight and seeing Wicked recently, I'm firmly convinced that in my former life I starred on Broadway. Something with lots of tap numbers and beautiful costumes.

I love musicals. Even though every musical is an implausible display of everyday life, I still love it. I think when I was a teenager I thought that one day my prince charming would come and tell me he loved me in a song. I know, I have issues. I'm working on them.

Mom and Dad always took us to shows when they came nearby and I remember just being in awe. I remember distinctly the first show that I fell in love with completely. Sure, I love Rodgers & Hammerstein but this was the first show I saw live and knew nothing about beforehand and I was in love. It was "The Secret Garden." If you've never seen it and it's ever nearby, go.

I found this song tonight and I feel like I'm sitting there watching the show again. Elizabeth was in my lap and my mom was sitting next to me and after it was over, mom and I looked at each other slack-jawed. Yes, it was this good.

Is it too late for me to be in musical theatre?

Ohhhhh, I woke up singing "Wick" this morning. I've no idea why. But, I too love the Secret Garden. You saw the Tony Awards clip right? Mandy Patinkin, Robert Westenberg and Rebecca Lucker... Wheh!
