Next week I'm getting a root canal. I know, right? That was my reaction. I've never even had a toothache before and the first one I get leads to this? Merry Christmas to me.
I have an appointment with my pulmonary doctor tomorrow morning because I brought a cough home with me from Germany. And I know my body well enough to know it will not go away by itself. No matter how much over-the-counter drugs I take.
So while not thankful for a cough nor for a root canal nor for the prescriptions I will have, I am thankful for health insurance. It's one of those grown-up things you appreciate after you get your first real job with benefits.
While I still have out-of-pocket costs to pay, it's not nearly as much as it could be.
So yay for health care and yay for wellness. Boo on root canals.
