I know what I like. There's nothing wrong with that.
So today I was picking up some soup from one of my favorite lunch haunts, Crepe Myrtle's Cafe. It's actually a cafe inside a bookstore and I can go pick up my soup and be back at work within 30 minutes when I'm having a busy day.
The guy behind the counter knows me and when I walk in, he knows exactly what I'm ordering: cream of chicken and wild rice soup.
Today they weren't so busy and we chatted a bit and I happened to comment that maybe I need to branch out and order something different sometime.
This is what he said:
I read somewhere that the most intellectual and influential people throughout history actually ate according to a schedule and always seemed to eat the same types of food. There wasn't a lot of variation in their diets. They are quoted as saying that with all the important things they have to think on and produce, food is something that shouldn't be that difficult. If they like what they like, why change it?
I like that philosophy.
