I'm headed to Hutchmoot this weekend!
At this point, you're probably scratching your head and wondering what a Hutchmoot is. The link is above if you want a lot of detail but it's a retreat in Nashville that I'll be headed to on Thursday.
This is from the website: "It's a weekend of live music, great food and conversation, and a series of discussions centered on art, faith and the telling of great stories across a wide range of mediums. We want you to come and enjoy a weekend of music and conversation about the stories all around us in song, film, books--and most importantly the story being told through our lives; our own story--what it means to get to the holy hidden heart of it, how to tell a better story with the days we’re given, and how our stories intersect each other's and connect to the Great Story."
If you've been reading this blog for the past couple of years, you know I've been working on living a better story. It started when I read Donald Miller's "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" and I decided that my story could be something better and bigger than I could imagine. My story had unlimited possibilities, characters, experiences and chapters.
So I made changes. I worked harder to find my passions, clear my thoughts, set goals.
And these are the stories I'm living now:
A Healthier Story - I'm losing weight; I started running again; I am thinking more clearly and functioning in a better head space.
A More Creative Story - I'm writing more - in my journal, on the blog. I am constantly making notes on ideas and thoughts that fly through my mind. I am taking more pictures. I'll be taking a sewing class in October.
A Faith-Filled Story - I'm participating in groups that bring me joy but also provide me with worship moments I need throughout the week. I'm talking to God throughout the day and taking the opportunities He gives me by the horns.
My story is getting better and better and this weekend, I want to celebrate that and look for new ways to add chapters to my story. One moment at a time.
