I just read this blog post over at NPR.com and I've been laughing for a full ten minutes. "Little House on the Prairie" was major summertime viewing in our house during the formative years. I remember it came on every morning on TBS. Usually two episodes in a row.
I'm surprised I'm not more scarred by it actually. There was some scary stuff on that show: incest, rape, people dying in fires, attacking wolves and gangrene. For such a happy show, they could sure pull the melodrama out.
And I've visited Laura Ingalls Wilder's house in Missouri and seen pictures of the family. I can tell you this, that her pa did not look like Michael Landon and her ma did not look like Karen Grassle. They looked more like my outlaw family members.
