On patience

Patience, n. A minor form of despair, disguised as a virtue.
- Ambrose Bierce

I am not a patient person.

Actually I'm a horribly impatient person. I don't like to wait. I don't like to keep others waiting. I get fidgety if things take too long. I can't sit still.

I'm not proud of this and I've struggled with it as long as I can remember. I've prayed; I've kept insanely busy to keep my mind off things; I've journaled.

And the only things I learned were:
  1. Never pray for patience because you'll get the worst tests.
  2. Don't say yes to everything because then you just end up tired and jittery.
  3. Journaling causes hand cramps.
I have yet to find something that works.

Except being present. Being here. Embracing the world that is around me RIGHT NOW.

And of course that is much easier to write than to do. Just like being patient.

Oh well, practice makes perfect right?
