A visit to book heaven

On Saturday, Mad and I took a field trip to downtown Birmingham. We visited a place that I have had on my list for many years but never made it there.

Wow. Just wow. Books from the floor to the ceiling. Printings from the 1800s to the more recent. We were in awe. I found old hymnals, books of poetry with writings in the margin and even purchased a book.

The Home-maker and Her Job by Lillian Gilbreth. Published in 1927, I found it fascinating to peruse. And definitely not something I plan on implementing.

Top picture is the pile of stenographer books I found. I almost bought a shorthand one but decided I still type faster than I could ever write shorthand.

Bottom picture is portraying the pure depth of the store. And this is only one aisle.
