Where's the fun?

Oh summer. You used to be a time that I looked forward to - no school, all the books I could read, laying on the sofa watching "Little House on the Prairie" reruns on TBS.

I wish I had known to enjoy it more at the time. Because summer now is work, work and more work. And dressing up everyday to go out in 90 degree heat to make nice with everyone I meet. When in reality, I want to go to my dark, air-conditioned home and lay prostrate on the floor under a fan until fall.

Again, being a grown-up is no fun.

There are a few bright spots in my summer. They include:
  • White Collar - awesome show on USA if you're not watching it.
  • Leverage - steal from the rich and give to the poor. Nice in theory and great TV on TNT.
  • Atlanta Braves baseball - this is much more enjoyable now that they're winning.
  • Frozen yogurt - which thanks to the new yogurt craze that has hit Birmingham, there is now a place close to my house. I don't feel as guilty eating that as I do ice cream.
  • 6 AM runs - believe it or not, I actually like it. Okay, maybe "like" is a strong word but on the days I run, I do feel better. Never thought I'd say that.
What's getting you through this summer? AC set at 70 degrees or do you actually get a real vacation?
