Airport thoughts

It's 8 AM and I'm currently keeping a seat warm in the Kansas City airport as I get ready to head back to Birmingham. I wish the seat were keeping ME warm because it's a chilly 65 degrees here this morning. It feels amazing but I seriously considered buying a sweatshirt at the gift shop.

I had a great trip. This is that one event I tend to do every year so I have friends that I enjoy seeing. I love the gal that travels with me and we have a great time renewing our friendship. And I get to experience different parts of the country that I never would visit on my own.

Here are some highlights of my time in Kansas City/Overland Park:
  • Eating at the Golden Ox (as described below).
  • Learning that "pop" means Coke.
  • Discovering the joy of burnt ends at Jack Stack BBQ.
  • 4-H Talent Revue. This included a guy who played the harmonica and juggled. But not at the same time which I thought was disappointing.
  • Sitting in a piano bar (drinking water, thanks for asking) and cracking up at the song selections. I heard Piano Man, of course, as well as Lady GaGa, Lynrd Skynrd, Cee-Lo Green, Britney Spears and Kenny Chesney. Just to name a few.
  • I've also decided that I want to be a backup singer at some point in my life.
Good times but I'm very glad to head home. To my bed. Until the next trip which just happens to be next week.
