Thankful Thursday #2

Today is Mom and Dad's 37th wedding anniversary!

Yay them! Because really, in today's society, longevity in marriage is not what it used to be. Yes, there are reasons for divorce that I completely understand. But there are others that just seem like excuses.

A successful marriage requires work, communication, honesty, love and an attitude that this vow you made is worth fighting for every day.

Today, I'm thankful for seeing all of these traits in my parents' marriage. Watching them, I've learned what I want in a future relationship and even what I don't.

But the most important lesson is that loving another person is a choice that you make each and every day, in every situation - at your best, at your worst; the highs, the lows; the celebrations and the disappointments.

Love is being there through it all.

Thanks Mom and Dad for keeping your vows, loving each other and loving me!
