Just another Manic Monday! Aren't they all that way?
Music keeps me sane. It keeps me balanced. It keeps the stillness of my office from overwhelming me.
So for this Monday, I thought I'd share what's currently spinning on my iTunes.
If you're looking for pure summer fluff and pop, try Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." This is totally the "IT" song of the summer and once you hear it, it will take hours to leave your head. Unfortunately.
If you're looking for mellow, heartfelt tunes, Sara Bareilles just released a five song EP called "Once Upon Another Time" that is gorgeous. She has one of the purest voices out there and I love her melodies. Related: Rose Cousins' "We Have Made a Spark." Her songs "Go First" and "For the Best" are amazingly beautiful.
If you're looking for something completely different, try the Alabama Shakes. From North Alabama, this group has a rocking sound that is sometimes ear-splitting and other times soulful. They have a fun sound and I've enjoyed getting to know them.
So I haven't seen a movie in three months but yet I have two different soundtracks that are currently in my playlist. First is "The Hunger Games" and no I haven't seen the movie. But the music is amazing! Rough and haunting. Soaring and heavy. Second is "October Baby" and no I haven't seen the movie. October Baby was filmed on Samford's campus and has a message of pro-life and adoption. The music is uplifting and worshipful and believe me, I have more days that I need that than not.
So that's what I have. Anybody have some suggestions for others?
