I have never been a "cool" person. I've never really been in the "in-crowd." My style, fashion and know-how is definitely not used as a benchmark for acceptance.
And I'm okay with that. I wasn't okay with it back in the school years. Gosh the angst I had about being a good student who watched too much TV Land and not enough MTV.
Oh, middle school, you never leave do you?
For some odd reason I've been thinking about this and I decided to make a list of the ways that I am totally uncool. I'm going to claim it and be proud!
I enjoy PBS in all forms. American Experience, Masterpiece (Classic, Theater and Mystery), Antiques Roadshow and American Masters all have earned a place on my Tivo. Just last night I watched a program on Joan Baez and am now listening to her entire discography on Spotify. People need to be free!
I frequently talk to my TV during Antiques Roadshow and wonder why my family didn't buy Tiffany jewelery during the 1800s. Why? Oh, because we were farmers! They had no clue who Tiffany was.
Nothing is more comfortable to me than a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and Toms.
I will totally leave the house without makeup. And in Alabama, it is considered a sin by some to even leave the house without lipstick. Does Chapstick count? Last Saturday I wandered around Mountain Brook Village in sweaty workout clothes and a baseball hat. Not cute.
It is more enjoyable for me to sit and catch up on my Tivo or read than it is to go to a bar, a club and/or any establishment with loud music and smoke.
I know all the words to every song from the 1960s - 1970s. My best? Midnight Train to Georgia. I'm an amazing Pip.
I kill at Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
My knowledge of TV shows, plots and characters is deep, wide and varied. MASH? Andy Griffith? LOST? You name it, I watch it.
Sometimes, I watch Disney Channel because I want to and not because children are around. I love Phineas and Ferb!
For the past 12 years, every vacation I ever took except one has been with my parents. I'd rather spend time with them than anybody else for an extended period of time.
And lastly, I spent time making this list. If that isn't uncool, I don't know what is.
I'm sure there are more but these are the most obvious. Uncool people of the world, unite!

If the Joan Baez documentary was "How Sweet the Sound," I watched it on Netflix and loved it. It reminded me why I liked listening to her as a kid.
