One thought I heard was, I thought this was going to be a funny post! Well no, but now you've got it. Being single in church is sometimes hilarious, sometimes awkward and always entertaining.
So I present, Living Single at Church:
1. If any church hires a new, young pastor that happens to be single, watch out! Your female population in that age range is about to explode for about three months. You'll see them on the front pews, up close and personal at every event. At least until they figure out a) he has a girl in another town, b) marriage is not his calling or c) he chooses that one lucky gal.
2. If a newly single pastor does join the fold, it is not appropriate to point out to every single gal in his age range that he's there and available. This is not looking out for a singles' best interest. It's being a busybody. Back it up.
3. When asked why you're not snatched up yet like some sort of sale item at WalMart on Black Friday, there are a few appropriate responses:
- I'm just an unclaimed treasure!
- I'm not entirely sure snatching is how I want to go about this thing.
- He just hasn't found me yet!
- And my favorite: Why don't you pray about it for me?
4. Just because I'm single doesn't mean I can't cook. Don't skip me over when the potluck list comes around or ask me to bring bread. I can do better. I promise!
5. And just because I'm single doesn't mean I have time to sign up for every committee I'm asked to be on. Being single doesn't mean I'm bored.
Single friends, anything I'm missing?

6. Being married may not be one of my life goals. Don't act like I've accomplished nothing because I haven't had kids in wedlock (or really, out of wedlock) yet. The 15-year-old who didn't understand the proper order of things and has a kid should not be treated like more of an adult.
not that I'm bitter or anything. :D
"Why don't you pray about it for me?" makes me giggle so. Another favorite response (that only ever plays out in my head) is, "I dunno, I guess I'm either really ugly or have a terrible personality!" Good times, being single in church!
