I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Nashville for a client meeting. When I say whirlwind, it means I was in Nashville for all of 14 hours. The majority of which I spent sleeping.
It just so happens that the area of town we meet and stay in are right at the Opryland Hotel. Now if you've never been to Opryland, it's an experience. The place is massive with garden paths leading every which a way, shops, restaurants and of course all the guest rooms. It might be fun to stay there once but honestly, it takes too long to get anywhere once you're in the compound. I just need to know how to get to my room. Not how to navigate an atrium the size of a football field.
Anyway, we ate dinner in Opryland and as we walked through, I kept noticing a plethora of cowboy hats, cowboy boots and ironed Wranglers. The only times I've ever been surrounded by that many Stetsons is when I'm in Oklahoma or Texas.
They were all wearing name tags so it didn't take long to figure out it was some sort of convention. And what convention may you ask? Why, the Cattleman's Association of America of course.
Beef! It's what's for dinner.
And let me tell you, there were some cute cowboys in the facility. I have a soft spot for "ma'am's" and a tip of the hat.
So here's my thought. Maybe I can look up their association site and find out the location of their meeting next year. Wherever it is, I bet it's a fabulous place to vacation. :)
