I know all the words to every Adele song on her "21" album.
I can recite "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost that I learned in elementary school. As well as the first few stanzas of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow which I recited in elementary school wearing a flannel nightshirt and carrying a lantern.
I know most all the words to every song from the 1960s - 1970s by riding with my mother for 16 years.
I can tell you the plot point of most major books out right now. As well as some of the obscure. And all of the classics.
I have a TVGuide in my brain that allows me to know when and what shows are on TV all the time.
My obsession with Duchess Kate allows me to know every outfit she wears in public. She is so classy!
All this is completely random and will in no way make me more money, more useful or highlight my brains and beauty.
It's trivial.
And sometimes, I'm really thankful for the trivial in my life. I know the things that are important. My faith, my family, my friends, my work. All important.
But sometimes it's nice to unplug from it all and revel in the trivial. Knowing I can't stay there forever. But it's a nice escape. Into a book or a TV show or a movie. Or even a song. I have my ways.
I hope you have your own escape that you can celebrate. And if you don't, what a dull world that must be!
